Our Junior Womens competitor Gabby de Chassart arrived back in Harare last night after a most incredible journey to the ITU World Triathlon Championship Grand Finals.  Regardless of the outcome of her race on the day, we are all so very proud of her, Well done Gabs !!  We would like to share this message from Gabby with you all :

Firstly I would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone for all the messages of support but more so, thank you to everyone who has been by my side throughout this whole process and training leading up to the event, be it lifting me to training sessions, swimming alongside me or simply taking the time to ask how my training is going.I am so unbelievably appreciative of all the incredible people in my life❤️

I came into the preparations for world champs simply wanting to be able to compete as I knew the standard of racing would be beyond anything I’d ever experienced before. Unfortunately this afternoon’s race certainly fell short of my expectations. I found myself out the back of the swim and isolated on the bike which resulted in being lapped out by the lead runner 50m before the end of the 20km bike leg. I’m bitterly disappointed after months and months of hard work but at the same time I would not exchange this experience for anything as I have learnt so much during the lead up to this event as well as this eye-opening, unique week I’ve been so privileged to have in Cozumel. So thank you everyone who has made this all possible for me but at the end of the day I just wasn’t physically and more so mentally prepared for the ferocity of the battle on the course this afternoon.
