What a fantastic weekend we had at Smallbridge Dam, thank you to everyone who made the journey and joined us for this event and hope that you had a great time too.  The weather was brilliant and the venue was superb as always.

Racing conditions were good – the water temperature on race day was 23 degrees which meant no wet suits – the bike course was technical and fast – very windy out on the hills too, it was very warm so we were ready and prepared to manage all the athletes at the finish line with heat management procedures.  Congratulations and well done to everyone who participated in the triathlon and the open water swim events – there were some great times achieved and valuable selection points earned by the Junior and Youth athletes.

The results from the day’s events have been sent out and will be uploaded to the Results page. A huge gallery of photos from the weekend are being processed and will also be uploaded to the Event Gallery – there are already some great shots up on our Facebook page so please go and have a look and tag yourselves and feel free to add your photos as well. Thank you to budding photographer Zander Botha and his Mum Roa for the first group of photos.  The Gallery photo credits go to Roa Botha, Claire Nicholson and Debbie Hildebrand who took some incredible shots – thank you ladies !!

The event would not have been possible without the support and sponsorship from KDV BEDDING who have come on board as the sponsor of the Penhalonga event for the next 2 seasons – thank you from the Triathlon Zimbabwe family for your support and we look forward to hosting an even bigger event in December 2023.

Our sincere thanks and appreciation also go to –

The Technical Officials and all the Mums and Dads who were roped in to assist with the race management – your input was invaluable

Eastern Angling Society for allowing us to use your beautiful venue – thanks to Nathan and Samuel for looking after us so well making sure the clubhouse and the showers were immaculate and for helping with the clearing and set up of the transition and race venue at the Dam Wall

Shingi and Melody Pswarayi, Kupa and all the guys from The Draughtman – you made sure we had the most delicious food and drinks for the whole weekend

Finally – thank you to all the parents and athletes who supported the event – we hope you all had a great weekend and got home safely.  For those who have not been to the Smallbridge Dam Penhalonga event before – please do consider it for 2023 – you will really enjoy it.
