UPDATE

An update from Tour Management and National Coach on Africa Triathlon Championships –

A Junior Development Camp will be held in Sharm El Sheikh from 5 – 10 June prior to the Africa Champs with places for 1 male and 1 female athlete in the 16-19 age group from each African Federation to attend.

Congratulations to Pamela Fulton who was appointed by World Triathlon as one of the 2 Head Coaches for this Camp and to MAKANAKA MAWERE who was offered and has accepted the female slot and will be representing Zimbabwe. In the absence of U19 boys representing Zimbabwe at these Africa Championships, permission from World Triathlon was sought for an U15 Male to attend the camp, but all 3 of our U15 boys declined the offer, rather waiting until they were of the appropriate age.

CONGRATULATIONS go to MIKAYLA COLEGRAVE who has been selected as the Captain of the Zimbabwe team.

Following the previous Team Selection announcement, we advise that the following athletes will represent Zimbabwe and travel to Sharm El Sheikh:

U23 Elite Male – MATTHEW DENSLOW
U19 Junior Females MIKAYLA COLEGRAVE (Captain), ANDIE KUIPERS, MAKANAKA MAWERE
Youth U17 Male – AUSTIN GILL
Youth U15 Males – JOSHUA JACOBS, MATIPA MAWERE, DUWAN BOTHA
Youth U15 Females – EMMA LIDSBA, ANJE VAN AS

The Mixed Team Relay athletes have yet to be selected and Coach Fulton will wait until after everyone has raced their individual events before appointing the team.  Sadly, Matt Denslow will be unavailable as he has to immediately depart Egypt for the UK after his race due to exam commitments, so will sadly be unable to be a part of our team.

Huge thanks must go to Tracey Jacobs and Gail Ascott who have been extremely busy finalizing all the details, plans and preparations which are ever changing in respect of the team kit orders, flights, visas, accommodation bookings, PCR testing etc.

Our athletes have all been entered onto the Start Lists which can be found on the World Triathlon website.

We will keep you all posted on relevant details regarding the team as time progresses.  GOOD LUCK TEAM ZIMBABWE !!
