Thanks to ALL who came down to Donnybrook Race-Track today for the 5th Duathlon National Championships. It was a fantastic morning and great fun had by all. We had a good turnout of Tots, Kidz and Du Sport athletes – it is so exciting and encouraging to see such talent emerging amongst the youngsters and we look forward to seeing them grow and develop into our stars of the future !! Support from schools such as St John’s, Peterhouse and Wise Owl continues to be crucial in the growth and development of our sport and we thank the coaches and athletes for coming out to participate in both the non-Championship and Championship events.

Thanks also go to Electrosales for assisting with logistics, and to BLIV for the very generous donation of gift vouchers for the winners of the championship races. Thanks to Schweppes Zimbabwe for keeping all our athletes and officials hydrated with Bonaqua Water and to Safeguard Zimbabwe for supporting us again with a fantastic team of guards who assisted in all areas, a great crew who are surely part of the TZ family. A very big thank you also to the TZ Technical Officials and Riggers who continue to work tirelessly to produce outstanding events.
There was some highly competitive, exciting racing across the board with the overall Men’s Sprint National Title being claimed by CALLUM SMITH who fought it out with Andrew Peebles at the finish and stormed over the line in a time of 01:01:19 – shaving 00:00:20 seconds off last year’s Champion Rohnan Nicholsons’ time of 01:01:39 and setting a new National record – WELL DONE CALLUM !! Andrew Peebles placed 2nd overall and taking 3rd place was Shine Doko. The overall Women’s Sprint National Title was claimed by LILYARNA EGGERSGLUSZ with a time of 01:31:31.

Our next event is on SUNDAY 8TH NOVEMBER – the RYAN COLLETT MEMORIAL TRIATHLON at SPRINGVALE HOUSE SCHOOL – this is an amazing venue and event and a wonderful day out of town. Events on the programme will include TriTots, Trikidz, Trisport, Trifun, TriFit SuperSprint and Sprint – as well as a 5km TriRun – this will be SELECTION EVENT # 4 for the Youth and Junior athletes.
