Huge congratulations and well done to both Rachel O’Donoghue and Zander Botha on winning SILVER at the World Triathlon Development Regional Cup event in Kilifi, Kenya this morning 🏅 Gold and Bronze in BOTH the Youth Men and Youth Women were claimed by South Africa and Egypt respectively.
Rachel and Zander were selected to participate in an intense World Triathlon Development Regional Camp with other top athletes from Africa. 10 National federations were represented at the camp – the athletes are all preparing for a busy calendar year in 2026 with the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar 2026 as their ultimate goal. The course has been facilitated by Neil MacPherson with assistance and input from our National Coach Pam Fulton. Today’s race was an eligibility race in the YOG qualification process which makes their fantastic achievement of 2nd place each even more exciting. Rachel and Zander will be competing again on Sunday 23rd in the 2×2 Mixed Relay event which will be extremely competitive and promises to bring out even more fierce racing especially between Zimbabwe, South Africa and Egypt !!!
