Wow – what a fantastic start to the 2022-2023 Season – on behalf of the Executive Board, Committees, Technical Officials and Coaches – THANK YOU to everyone who came down to Mount Pleasant Pool for our first official event of the new season.  I am sure that there would have been a lot more competitors but know that there were plenty of other events on – we look forward to seeing you all at the next event.

Sunday’s programme included the introduction of the National Youth and Junior Triathlon team travelling to Morocco next weekend to participate in the Africa Triathlon Championships, a fine group of young athletes who all worked and trained so hard to meet the criteria for selection, they have trained throughout the winter months and are all determined to give their very best at this level of competition – congratulations to all –

George Ascott (Capt), Makanaka Mawere (Capt), Emma Lidsba, Brooklyn Tippett, Matipa Mawere, Anje van As, Tayleigh Taylor, Nicole Madya, Callum Smith and Rohnan Nicholson.  Best wishes also to our Elite U23 athlete Andie Kuipers who is based at university in the States and will be joining the team in Agadir.  Please visit the World Triathlon event page to follow the event.

The Touring team were honoured to have representatives from CFAO Motors – Mr Austin Upenyu (standing in for Ms Tammy Hein who is out of country) and Ms Patience Ngondonga, Mr Ian and Mrs Janine Duncan from RS Dieselpro, Mr Ross O’Donoghue from CPI/Valley Irrigation and Hazel from Ukhozi Transport who all contributed very generously to the Tour Fundraising appeal for Kit Sponsorship.  The team captains presented them with a small token of appreciation for their support in this area, the team will be kitted out with new tour towels, caps, bags, t-shirts and golf shirts in addition to the formal apparel that the team will travel in and new race uniforms to compete in – A HUGE THANK YOU TO YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT !!

Races got underway after the presentations and all went off very well with few delays overall – thank you to all the Technical Officials who give up their Sunday mornings to officiate at our local events and ensure that you all have the safest possible environment in which to compete and to all the Riggers and Technical Team who also spend their Saturday afternoons setting up the venue.

The Final Results, Series and Selection Points will be published on the website shortly.

Well done to all the Under 13 athletes who have moved up to this age category and competed in the Youth SuperSprint Selection event – we are very excited to see so many up and coming athletes in this age group.  You all raced so well – remember that this was only the first selection race and your time is just a starting point, you all did so well and your times will get faster and faster with every race you do – just keep training hard but most of all, you must enjoy yourself.

SAVE THE DATE …..

Our next event at MOUNT PLEASANT will be on SUNDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER – these will be FUN EVENTS with Series Points to be gained – full event details will be published later in the week and online entries will open.

In closing, please join us in wishing our team the very best at Africa Champs, I will also be at this competition and will try and keep you posted with news and results so keep checking our website, Facebook and Instagram platforms for updates.
