COVID-19 – F.A.Q’S – SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE

The information provided below is based on the latest official information provided by the Government of Zimbabwe and by airlines operating to our country as at 1st JULY 2021 and is subject to change WITHOUT NOTICE.

Whilst we will endeavor to keep all details updated, it remains your responsibility to ensure you have the required forms and documents to avoid refusal to travel or denied entry to Zimbabwe.

We advise all traveler’s to check the relevant Government websites for further information and official guidance.

Q.  What are all visitors to Zimbabwe required to have?
A.  All visitors to Zimbabwe entering through land and airport borders are required to hold a VALID PCR COVID-19-FREE CERTIFICATE issued within 48 hours of departure from respective country. 

Q.  Are there any Covid-19 protocols in place in Zimbabwe that must be adhered to?
A.  YES – as is the norm worldwide, there are protocols in place in Zimbabwe –
–  Wear your Face Mask
–  Keep your distance
–  Wash and sanitize your hands regularly
–  Do not shake hands – practice the “Elbow tap” when greeting
–  Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your elbow and avoid touching your face

Q.  What is the procedure when I arrive at RG Mugabe International Airport?
A.  Passengers arriving at RG Mugabe International Airport will be required to produce their PCR Covid-19 Free Certificate and comply with all instructions given by Border Control officials.  Under normal circumstances our Athlete Liaison Officer would be permitted to enter the terminal building to assist with your Customs clearance etc., but under current laws, ONLY PASSENGERS and AIRPORT OFFICIALS are allowed to enter the terminal building.  Our Athlete Liaison Officer will be on stand-by outside the terminal building to assist where possible should there be any problems

Q.  What happens if I should have a problem on entry – who do I contact urgently for assistance?

Q.  What happens if I have a Covid-19 Free Certificate but the officials question my health on arrival?
A.  Passengers displaying symptoms of COVID-19, whether or not you present a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate will be detained at a holding facility until they can be tested for COVID-19.  There is a testing facility at the airport for this purpose.

Q.  What happens if I test negative?
A.  If you test negative for COVID-19 you will be discharged immediately.

Q.  What happens if I test positive?
A.  If you test positive for COVID-19 you will be detained at an isolation facility for 14 days.

Q.  What type of isolation facility will I be taken to?
A.  There are private and Government facilities available.  We would suggest private – you must call our Athlete Liaison Officer immediately.

Q.  How much will this cost?
A.  Anywhere in the region of US$ 75 – US$ 100 per day

Q.  Before my departure from Zimbabwe, where and how will I be able to have another PCR COVID-19 Test and how much will it cost?
A.  ALL athletes and visitors to the Bonaqua Africa Triathlon Cup Troutbeck will have
1.  A PCR COVID-19 swab test at Troutbeck Inn Resort prior to departing from the venue
2.  The cost will be US$ 60
3.  The tests will be carried out between 0600 and 0700 on Sunday 21st February 2021 in a designated room and will be undertaken by certified personnel provided by one of our event sponsors, CIMAS MEDILABS who are a Government of Zimbabwe approved testing facility
4.  All tests will be transported to the CIMAS laboratories in Harare to arrive by 11.00am.
5.  Your Test Results and Certificates will be ready by 4.00pm on Sunday 21st February and will be distributed to you by our Athlete Liaison Officer, Cath Jennings

Q.  How do I get back to Harare for my departing flight?
A.  After the event and following completion of all PCR swab tests on Sunday morning, all athletes and visitors will depart from the hotel by latest mid-morning and transferred to Harare arriving late afternoon.  You will be accommodated in approved B&B overnight at your own cost.

 

Q.  Can I book my return flight for Sunday 21st February 2021 and will my test certificate be ready in time for my departure?
A.  It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you do NOT book return flights on Sunday evening but to book for departures on MONDAY 22nd FEBRUARY.  Our Athlete Liaison Officer will arrange your transfer from overnight accommodation to RG Mugabe International Airport.
